What to Expect
From the moment you arrive, our team works to create a welcoming and reassuring environment.
Many of our staff members have been with the practice for over a decade, which means families are greeted by familiar faces at each visit.
We take time to understand your child’s needs, personality, and comfort level. If that means adjusting the pace of the appointment or modifying our routine, we will. Our priority is building trust and helping your child feel confident in the dental office.
Before your visit, we encourage you to complete your child’s forms in advance to reduce wait time and make your experience smooth and efficient. You can access forms in our Resources section.

Your child's first visit
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children see a dentist within six months of their first tooth and no later than their first birthday. Early visits build comfort before a problem arises.
When to comeBy their first birthday
Within six months of the first tooth appearing, and no later than age one – earlier than most parents expect.
FIRST VISIT IS FREEFor children 0-24 months
To encourage early healthy habits, we offer the first visit at no cost for children under 24 months.
Best timingMorning appointments
We offer early appointments for younger children when they are typically well rested and most cooperative.
What success looks likeWillingness to return
A successful visit doesn’t always mean every procedure is completed. Sometimes it means your child leaves comfortably.
Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist
Children are not simply small adults. Their medical, emotional, and developmental needs change quickly as they grow.
Pediatric dentists complete additional years of specialized training beyond dental school, focused entirely on caring for infants, children, teens, and individuals with special healthcare needs. This training includes growth and development, behavior guidance, and advanced pediatric procedures.
Our doctors are board certified pediatric dentists who have completed accredited specialty training programs and maintain a strong commitment to continuing education. This ensures your child receives care that is thoughtful, conservative, and rooted in pediatric expertise.
Choosing a pediatric specialist means choosing a provider trained specifically to care for your child’s unique needs at every stage.
Insurance and Billing
We believe families should be able to choose their child’s dentist based on quality of care, not insurance contracts.
McNutt Pediatric Dentistry is an independent practice and does not contract directly with insurance providers. This allows us to focus fully on what is best for your child rather than adjusting care based on reimbursement limitations.
Our fees are often comparable to or lower than many contracted offices, and we provide the necessary documentation for insurance reimbursement. While full payment is due at the time of service, we also offer payment arrangements without finance fees or interest when needed.
Our team is happy to answer any questions about insurance or payment before your visit. You can learn more on our Insurance and Billing page or call us directly at (615) 383-0171.
